The Shawshank Redemption

I had woken up late, so I rashed to school without breakfast. In fact, I was very hangry in the morning, and so I bought and ate lunch, which was pretty nice, at the first break in the cafeteria.

I don't like the CALL class where we study English on a computer, but that day was different, because I found a pretty good job advertisement in that time. I whould like to try it.

I have invited friends and teachers to my birthday party. I really hope that they're coming and will enjoy themselves.

In ILC, I introdused Hsiu-Ching and Amy to each other. Both of them will be a cheff in a Dum-Pling Party on Saturday. I'm looking forward to cooking and eating. Then I went to the conversation group.

After school, firstly I went to the Post Office to send my friend a brochure about around the world trips. Australia is famous in that it has a cheap air tickets. She is spending a month in Japan after travelling, so she was interested in that. However I was afraid that she might not get the letter because she will depart from Japan on 30 August.

Secondly, I got back to school because I wanted to join the drama club, but it wasn't open, the reason why is that Rachel, who is the teacher, had got a sick. Nick told me that, then I invited him to my party.

Then I went to the library and the computer room to study until half past six.

I got home and had dinner immediately, I was starving. There was soup, which may have been cooked by Nile, in the kitchen. It was nice.

I studied, and then I wached a video which was The Shawshank Redemption. It was great.
Finally, I went to bed at a quarter to two after I had talked with friends on the Internet.

Budget
Lunch $3.50
Petrol $32.00
Stamp $1.00

Decided on a Party Place

It was a good sunny day. I loved it.

After school, I went somewhere with Non and Sophia to look for a restaurant which would be open for my birthday party. We drove to Glenferrie, Richmond, and Fitzroy, and we checked five Greek restaurants and a Spanish restaurant. We compared them, and then I decided to have the party at a Greek restaurant which is called AGAPI on Swan street in Richmond, the reason is that the restaurant has good atmosphere, friendly staff, and a lot of costermer that means it must taste good, also Richmond is easy to access for all my friends.
I like such processes because I can see a lot of restaurant and speak to staff, It's fun.

We had dinner in McDonalds on the cornar of Smith street. I got great news, which made me happy, from phone by Tour Land duaring dinner, that said they succeeded to get a cheaper air ticket on 20 September.

I forgot to send air mail to my friend.

Finally, I got home and studied.

Budget
Lunch $2.20
Dinner $6.75

Rang My Brother

I woke up at eight o'clock.
I talked with Nick about studying which I've been thinking recently. Even though I know that too much thinking doesn't make me happy, I've not been so good.

I didn't bring lunch, but some friends gave me food, so I didn't need to buy any food. I was able to save money. How lucky.
I asked Amy if she could help us to cook on Saturday or not. Fortunately she accepted so. She is going to help us.

After school, I went to the advanced conversation club for the first time. It was nice because I like to talk people who have different opinions from me.

I went back home after I had poured engine oil. The oil tank was nearly empty, of course it was bad. I should check more carefully.

I rang and spoke to my brother after a long time. Although he had been injued a few weeks ago, he was fine. He said he had a good sense of horse riding. I didn't know anything about horses, but I felt happy when I heard it.

I found out for the first time that Nile have studied about gemology, so I was really surprised. It was very good.

Birthday Party Plan

I woke up at eight o'clock. I was tired that day.
We had three new classmates. Our class has seventeen people, it's too much. I want to get a smaller class.

In ILC, I asked Nick about a good restaurant, because I was looking for a place which is suitable for my birtday party. I have a lot of Asian friends, so we usually have Asian dinner, but I thought it would be boring if we went to an Asian restaurant. I planed to have a party at a Greek restaurant. Nick gave me some good suggestions.
Then I went to a canvesation group, but there was no teacher, so we talked to only students.

I couldn't get any motivation for studying that day, so I just chatted some friends in the library.
Finally, I got home at half past five. Duaring a drive, I talked with Hsiu-Ching, we planed a Dun-Pling party this Saturday.

I forgot to take my laundry when I had got home. Then I rang my brother after a long time, but noone answered.
I looked for a restaurant for my party on the Internet, also I asked Mayumi and Yumi.

Discorvery Day

I got up at half to nine. It was a good sunny day.
I went to the VCA discovery day. I got some useful information and saw some open classes. I spent from a quarter to tne till a quarter past three.

Then I got my ex-homestay to help Nok. I had a cup of coffee and a muffin which was beautiful. We brought her luggage to my car. Then I took a picture of Susan, Andrew and Nok.
After that we went to Non's house. We invited him to dinner. He went out with us.

We went to Caulfield station to get Nok's key from her friend. And then we got to Nok's house at six o'clock.

I phoned a friend who had a plan to have dinner with us while we stayed at Nok's house, but she didn't answer. We went to her house after Nok had finished moving, but she was already eating dinner.

We went to Camberwell and had Indian food, which is my favorite. I love Indian food, especially the spinach dish. I ate it, so I was very happy. Nok payed my bill.

When I got home about nine, I was so tired. I didn't want to do anything. I went to bed early thet night.

Sat 17 August 2002
New Artistic Friend

I woke up at ten o'clock. It was a nice sunny day.
I washed my clothes and hung them out. Then I went to a milk bar to buy milk and a newspaper.

I looked for a job in the newspaper for an hour. I want to work as a bartendar in Melbourne. There were a lot of jobs as bartenders, I will apply them.

I left home at ten past one to go to the city. I met my friends in front of the State Library, and I couldn't park in the city, so we went to Brunzwick Street to had a cup of coffee.
Tsuyoshi introdused me to Gen who studies directing. She wanted me to be a Japanese actor in her film. It was a very nice opportunity for me, so I was really exited. We talked about her film, and other things.

Then we went to Fitzroy Garrely to see her friend's exhibition. It was opening day, but there were several pictures which had already been sold. I like such places like this because there are really artistic things and artistic people. I remembered my Japanese friends and emvironment. I want more artistic friends in Australia.

I drove Tsuyoshi and his friend Glenferrie station after leaving Gen. I was greatful to Tsuyoshi.

I went to Yumi's home to had a Japanese BBQ. There were a lot of dishes on the table, and everything was nice. I enjoyed it pretty much. When I left there, Alby, who works in a chocolate company, gave me a bag of chocolate, it made me happy. I borrowed two of The Offspring's CD from Rob.

That was my happy day.

Budget
Cappuccino $2.50

Kimuchi House

I went to school at half past nine. I was surprised because there was a class in our classroom. I thought that day we didn't have a class, but I was wrong.

At the graduation ceremony, Saya read a speech which was so nice.
A few good friends left school, it was sad. I talked to a lot of friends after the ceremony.

Then I went to Albert park and drove round the park. Some part of road is the same as F1 grand prix course, it was interesting. And then I walked around the lake after having a nap.

Budget
Dinner $14.00
A cup of coffee $2.10
White wine $5.00

Thu 15 August 2002
Thai restaurant

I woke up at nine o'clock, I think I played basketball the previous day, so I couldn't wake up. In any case, it means I'm lazy.

At the first break, I went to the computer room and I compreted an adventisement which is about looking for a flatmate.

At lunchtime, I had lunch with my classmates. So we shared our lunch, it was a good idea.
Then we discussed the party on the next day. I wanted to go to a Thai restaurant near Glenferrie station, but some classmates wanted to go to a Korean restaurant in the city. I have been to that Korean restaurant which was good but not expensive, but I dislike the city, especially on Fridays, It's noisy and busy.
Finally, we decided to go the Korean restaurant which is called Kimuchi House, because I don't like to discass too much which is a stupid idea. We can go the thai restaurant this
Sunday instead.
Then I put our advertisement on the board opposite of the accommodation office and near the public telephone in Hawthorn ELC.

During and after the ILC, I enjoyed chatting with several friends.
Saya rehersed her speech which whould be spoken at the graduation ceremony. I thought it was very good, funny and interesting, I can't write such a beautiful speech.
After that I talked with Klara and Non. She showed us her pictures which were really nice. She've been to a lot of countries, so I was interested in her story and pictures.

Then we went to the Thai restaurant which was I've already written about. Firstly, we thought it'd better to depend on Non because he is Thai. However, he couldn't deside our oder. Finally, we orderd respectively. In fact, all of dishes were delicious.

Budget
Dinner@Thai restaurant $10.00
Cappuccino $2.50

Tue 13 August 2002
Hang over

I woke up at 9 o'clock. Of cource, I was late for class and I had a headache, which maight be from yesterday's white wine. Before I left home, I had paid to Nile some expense.

I reached school at half past nine, so I couldn't see two classmates' presentations.
I like to see the presentation. Some presentations were good.

At lunchtime, I played squash with some friends after I finished eating. Suddenly, a ball, hit bay Yon, hit me when we were enjoing ourselves. Yon apologized to me. I couldn't play for a few minutes, but after that I got better, and we continued playing.

After school, I went to an ice cream shop with classmates. I had a cappuccino while we were chatting. I learnt a few Taiwanese words from Joey and Amy, but Joey sometime played tricks on me. When we got back, I suggested that we have a party this Friday at a Thai restaurant.

I got home at half past five.
I cooked mincemeat and tomato sauce, fried egg and vegetables. It was good. I made a lot of sauce which whould save my life for a few days.

Nile came back home, and he told me that our other flatmate is moving out at the end of August, so we need to look for new one. Nile thought I'd better look for someone at Hawthorn among my friends, so we can share with someone we know. Sometimes new flatmate come with trouble, and we are afraid of that. Otherwise, we are looking forward to meeting a new friend.

Mon 12 August 2002
Aki's Birthday Party

At the first break time, I printed out my presentation things in the computer room, and then I photocopied on to transparencies in the library. I think everything is expensive at Hawthorn ELC. I can get a photocpoy for 6 cents per piece of paper in the city, but I have to pay 15 cents at Hawthorn.

At lunchtime, I practiced my presentation in front of friends in the cafeteria. They gave me some useful advice, for example, I should memorize that. Then I borrowed a speaker from Mariko, and prepared my presentation in the classroom.

I finished my presentation in the afternoon class, I felt tired but I was free.

I killed time with Non and Nok in the cafeteria after school because I had to help Non to move at half past five. Then we went to Non's house and helped him.

After that, we went shopping in Malvern because we were going to Aki's birthday party so we had to buy something. Actually, Nobody invited Non and me to that party. Finally, we selected a Cava which is a sparkring wine made in Spain. It was not expensive, but it tasted good.

I haven't seen Aki for a long time. We enjoyed the party, and I drank too much.

Then I drove Non to his new house with Chie, who is his flatmate, at twelve in the evening and helped him carry his luggage. Their home is huge but cheap. Non thanked me.

I got home at half past twelve, and went to bed immediately.

Budget
Party $8.40

Sun 11 August 2002
All Day in Home

I woke up at twelve in the afternoon. How lazy! I had breakfast which was chiken curry made on Wednesday by me, then I prepared for a presentation until five o'clock. It was tiring and I couldn't concentrate most of time.

I had a walk around the neighborhood for half an hour. After that I checked and wrote my English diary, it was better than preparation for the presentation, I was able to enjoy it.

Then I got home and continued studying.

Nile came back home at half past seven, then we cooked dinner, which was salad and chicken and vegetable soup, together. These were nice, we enjoyed eating and chatting.

Sat 10 August 2002
Sandra's Birthday Party

I woke up at eight o'clock, it was nice. I had breakfast, then I washed my clothes and hung them out. It was a nice sunny day and I enjoyed washing.
I started preparation for my presentation and worked until one o'clock in the afternoon.

However, I slept until six o'clock after I had lunch which was chiken curry. I hurryed to take the laundry. How lazy.

I went to Smith St. to join Sandra's Birthday Party at half past eight in the evening. I was able to find a nightclub easyly, but Sandra wasn't there, moreover the staff refused my ticket which I had already paied Sandra for. Luckyly, Sandra arrived soon after, so I didn't need to pay again. I gave her a birthday card. I met a few friends and Sue. We talked and drank and danced. The party was happy, I enjoyed it.

I said good bye to Sandra, then I left the party at nearly twelve. I gave Sue a lift home, after that I went home.

Budget
Beer $2.00

Fri 9 August 2002
The Witches of Eastwick

I had thought to get to school at nine o'clock, but I got up at nine o'clock. I reached to school at ten o'clock. I arranged to meet with Hsiu-Ching, and we prepared our presentations together.

She was late too, so I met her in the computer room at half past ten. I met other friends that day at school, most of them had the same reason as us.
I met Sue, Nick and Rachel in the cafeteria, when Hsiu-Ching, Non and I had lunch at one o'clock. I chatted with them, it was interesting.

I was so lazy, because I slept after lunch for sevelal hours, so I couldn't finish my preparation. I said bye to Hsiu-Ching and left school with some friends at half past five.

I drove to Mayumi's house and picked her up, and then we arrived in front of VAC. I dropped off some friends there, and then we went to the Princess theatre to see The Witches of Eastwick. She gave me the ticket which was my birthday present. I was able to park car near the theatre luckyly, and we had dinner at a restaurant which was not so good.

The Witches of Eastwick was nice. I didn't need to think anything, I just enjoyed it. I love straight play, also I like such types of funny plays.

There was a pretty bad trafic jam on the way back home.

Budget
Dinner $14.80

Thu 8 August 2002
The Party with Clasmates

I got to school with Yoshi.

I bought a bottle of water at the cafeteria. It was not cheap, Hawthorn should discount everything, in the cafeteria, and photocopies, etc.

After class, I drove to the city with Joey, Sandy and Ami. We reached the city at four fourty. I separated from them and went to MTSC to ask about school. I met Tvan on Swanston St. when I was running there.

I asked to the staff at MTSC which is a sort of school agency,
"which school is the best to learn IELTS?"
They told me that Hawthorn is the best.
I'd like to change school because Hawthorn is good but pretty expensive. However, I want to learn IELTS. I'm thinking hard about it.

I met friends at Starbucks. I don't like it because it is expensive but not special, I like a cafe which has a good atmosphere. However Starbucks has an advantage which we can stay a long time.

We arrived in front of Flinders station at six o'clock. We waited for friends who were late, then caught a tram to go to a restaurant.
We had Vietnamese food at the restaurant on Swanston St, it wasn't bad.

Then we went to Sofitel for a walk, and went to a lounge on the 35th floor. I remembered that a toilet at this floor is the best toilet in the world, I read something about that.
Most classmates drank juice, Ryan and Tvan enjoyed a beer, I had a ciger and red wine. I don't like to make a noise at such longes, so classmates were not good costemer for the hotel. They were noisy and taking pictures sometimes. Anyway, I relaxed and enjoyed a nice time.
I won't go there to pay by myself, because it was expensive. Although Sofitel is cheaper than Japanese hotels, I'm poorer now than I was in Japan.

Tvan wisperd to me when we were getting back,
"The next time, we should go to drink with only men"
I agreed with him.

I drove Mariko home, then went back home.

We had a walk through the Shopping Centre, then went shopping at Coles.
After that I refueled at the service station near the Shopping Centre.

We cooked dinner. He made beaf steak, and I cooked chicken curry and salad. We had dinner with Nile, it was nice. But Yoshi couldn't eat my curry because it was too hot for him. Of course Nile and I enjoyed it.
Yoshi played Violin, It was so cool.

Cabaret

I woke up at half past seven. It was the best time to wake up but I'm usually late. I left home after I had a shower and breakfast.

I was tired after the first break, because I didn't have enough sleep.

At lunchtime, I played squash with Non, Yon, Bird and a few friends. Non and Yon are good players.

At the afternoon class, Nick told us about presentation, and I'm doing presentation next Monday.

Yin Hang wanted a lift home with me, so I drove him home, I got into his house, and then he gave me a chocolate ice cream and bread. These were nice. I had a nap after we chatted.

I had to go back to school because I'd forgot to print out my CV, it was necessary because I wanted to bring it that day. It rained heavily while I was driving to school.

When I'd printed out my CV and I left school at half past five, it had stopped raining. Then I drove to Mayumi's house to pick her up, after that we went to Capers at Hawthorn to see a cabaret at half past six. Capers would open at seven o'clock, so we had a cappuccino at a cafe near Hawthorn station to kill time. I like that cafe.

The cabaret, which is called "Showcase", started at a quarter past eight. There were four singers and a pianist. We enjoyed every show. After the show, I gave a staff my CV. I want to work there because I love music and if I worked there, I would see a lot of shows. Mayumi is going to act in there next February.

We went to a restaurant in South Yarra and we chatted about next her show and something while we were having two beautiful pizza and cups of coffee. She paid every expense instead of driving car.

I got home at a quarter past twelve. I went to bed after I chatted my girlfriend on the Internet.

Mon 5th August 2002
The airport.

I woke up at eight o'clock, and reached to school at ten to nine.

That day's lunch was chips. It was cheap, but It's not good for my health. Then I played squash for the first time with Choi, Yon and Non. I was interested. And I knew there is a shower, I hadn't known that. It was good news.

At ILC time, I talked with some friends after Nick checked my diary. Then Sandra called me, and invited me to her birthday party next Saturday, so I was happy.

I went to the city because I wanted to book an air ticket. I asked a few travel agencies, but they had sold out of the cheapest direct flight which I wanted on 20th September with JAL. One of them was terrible, because I had booked a ticket, but they had sold it. Finally, I booked at Tour Land a ticket for 21st September with JAL, I'm also waiting an cancel ticket for 20th September with JAL. There is $120 difference between each ticket, which is really important for me. In any case, I'm coming back Melbourne on 3nd Octorber.

I got home at a quarter past six after I went to MTSC. Then I wrote my English diary. I went to Li Thing's house at half past nine because she was going back to Taoiwan that day. I picked her and her friend up and we drove to the airport. I didn't choose Citylink for the first time.

We arrived at the airport before half past ten. We had a coffee while we were killing time. She gave us cakes and cups of coffee. I was sad but we had a good time.

We left the airport at twelve o'clock except her. I got home at one o'clock.

Budget
Chips $2.20
Parking $3.20

Sun 4th August 2002
St.Kilda

I washed my clothes and hung out them when Mayya had finished washing after I had had a shower. I've been lokking for job, so I wrote my CV in English for the first time.

I went to Mayumi's house at a quarter to four, and we read "proof" while we were drinking a cup of tea. Naomi had taken a photocopy of all the pages of "proof", so she gave me that and I paid for her.

I went to Li Ting's house and picked her up, and then we went to St.Kilda to have dinner at Dogs Bar which is my favorite restaurant in St.Kilda, because she was going back to Taiwan. We enjoyed chatting while we were having pasta and wine. Then we had a walk on the beach, after that I drove her home.

I disturbed Nile when I had gone back home at eleven o'clock, I'was sorry for him.
I wrote and chatted on the internet. I fell asleep at two o'clock.

Budget
Photocopy $4.50
Dinner $15.00

Sat 3rd August 2002
Yum Cha

I woke up at ten o'clock. Then I had a shower, and I left home at half past eleven. I didn't have breakfast because I was going have lunch at twelve.

I arranged a meeting with friends at a Chinese restaurant. Yumi and Rob intoruduced me to that restaurant. We were having Yum Cha, which is traditinal Chinese snacks.

When I got to a shopping centre on Burwood highway, I was wandering there. It's very small and I was bored. I went to the Chinese restaurant on time. Everyone was late. Yumi, Rob and Mayumi came there at ten past twelve, they said "we arrived here at eleven thirty, and we had a cup of coffee". I couldn't find them when I had been walking there.

We waited for our other friend. Then Alvy came, after that Winnie who is from Hongkong came when I was starving at half past twelve. We hadn't started lunch. Yum Cha is very interesting for me. I had had Yum Cha in Japan, but it was different from this restaurant. When I had had Yum Cha in Japan, it was a course dishes, and the weiter had surved us each dish. In that case, there were many trolleys that had snacks called Yum Cha, rice, sweets and things like that, so we could choose everything from the trolleys. I wanted to eat everything, but of course it was impossible.

Also I leant some Chinese manners. For example, when a teapot is empty and we want more, we should open the teapot, then the waiter will change the teapot. We don't need to call them. When someone give me tea, I should hit the table with my fingers, it seems annoyed to me, but it means "Thank you". If you pour tea into a cup yourself, you should pour everyone's cup, it is polite.
We had a lot of Yum Cha. It was interesting when I ate Winnie's recommendations because she is an expert in Yum Cha. I was very happy to have a very good lunch, moreover It was not expensive, $13 for each person. I would go to this restaurant because I wanted to try other dishes I haven't had.

I went to Camberwell to check prices of air tickets alone after we left the Chinese restaurant at three o'clock. Then I went to the Chadstone Shopping Centre. The reason was the same as going Camberwell. The cheapest ticket was with Vietnam airlines, but JAL was easy to go back Japan because it's a direct flight. There is a difference of nearly $200. I was thinking a lot about it. And I recharged my mobile phone at Chadstone Shopping Centre.

I got back home at a quarter past five. I slept for three hours, I think it was very lazy. Then I had dinner which was All Bran because I was not hungry. Then I chatted and wrote on the Internet. I went to bed at three o'clock.

Yum Cha $13.00
